Discover the final squads of IPL 2025, team rankings, key players, and updates to prepare for the exciting cricket season! A total of 228 players were bought in the IPL 2025 auction, held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah. Surprisingly, some well-known players like David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Steven Smith, Kane Williamson, Shardul Thakur, Prithvi Shaw, and Mayank Agarwal went unsold, even though they had performed well in past IPL seasons. Some of them had even been team captains.
Punjab Kings had the most money to spend and built a strong squad that could compete for the title in the future. Royal Challengers Bengaluru surprised many by not using their RTM cards for Will Jacks and Mohammed Siraj. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants spent big to sign India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant.
Mumbai Indians were quiet during most of the auction as they kept five key players. On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders seemed focused on bringing back players who had performed well in recent seasons.
Here’s a look at how the teams are shaped and their ratings based on their auction performance:
10. Rajasthan Royals – 5.5/10
Rajasthan Royals kept Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, and Sandeep Sharma before the IPL 2025 mega auction. Their batting looked strong, even without Jos Buttler. Many thought they would replace Buttler with a similar player or bring him back, but they didn’t.
They didn’t spend money on openers, which is risky. If Jaiswal or Samson gets injured, there’s no backup for them in the squad. This is a major concern for the team. Nitish Rana was a good pick for the number three spot, and Parag, Jurel, and Hetmyer can handle positions four, five, and six. However, if Hetmyer gets injured, there’s no replacement for him either.
The bowling looks decent. Fazalhaq Farooqi was a great pick for INR 2 crore. Akash Madhwal and Tushar Deshpande are good additions to the pace attack with Sandeep. Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana will manage the spin department. Overall, the team seems a bit unbalanced, with no proper backups for key players. They spent a lot on retentions but missed opportunities at the auction.

9. Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 6/10
At the start of the auction, with a large budget, it seemed like they could build a strong squad to compete for the title. They kept Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal, planning to build around them. However, their decision not to use RTM cards on Will Jacks and Mohammed Siraj was odd, especially since Jacks went for only INR 5.25 crore.
Despite this, they signed some great players like Josh Hazlewood, Phil Salt, Tim David, Nuwan Thushara, and Liam Livingstone. They also spent INR 11 crore on Jitesh Sharma and INR 10.75 crore on Bhuvneshwar Kumar. While the team looks ready to challenge for the title, with their budget, RCB could have built a stronger squad.
They bought Devdutt Padikkal for INR 2 crore as a backup opener. However, his recent form in the league is worrying, and no other team showed interest in him. The bowling unit looks solid with Bhuvneshwar, Hazlewood, Dayal, Rasikh Dar, and Krunal Pandya. The middle order looks good, but they still lack an ‘X-Factor’ and will depend a lot on Salt and Kohli, as other batters lack consistency.
Player | Role | Price |
---|---|---|
Virat Kohli (c) | Batter | 21.00 crore |
Josh Hazlewood | Bowler | 12.50 crore |
Phil Salt | Wicketkeeper Batter | 11.50 crore |

Jitesh Sharma | Wicketkeeper Batter | 11.00 crore |
Bhuvneshwar Kumar | Bowler | 10.75 crore |
Liam Livingstone | Batting all-rounder | 8.75 crore |
Rasikh Salam Dar | Bowler | 6.00 crore |
Krunal Pandya | Bowling all-rounder | 5.75 crore |
Yash Dayal | Bowler | 5.00 crore |

Swapnil Singh | Bowling all-rounder | 50 lakh |
Manoj Bhandage | All-rounder | 30 lakh |
Swastik Chikkara | Batter | 30 lakh |
Abhinandan Singh | Bowler | 30 lakh |
Mohit Rathee | Bowler | 30 lakh |
8. Gujarat Titans – 6.5/10
Gujarat Titans’ top order and bowling attack look strong, but their middle order could be a problem next season. The team has kept key players like Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, and Rahul Tewatia, which gives them a solid foundation. On top of that, they added Jos Buttler for INR 15.75 crore, Mohammed Siraj for INR 12.25 crore, Kagiso Rabada for INR 10.75 crore, Prasidh Krishna for INR 9.5 crore, and Washington Sundar for INR 3.20 crore.
While these new signings are promising, they still have middle-order players like Anuj Rawat, Shahrukh Khan, Mahipal Lomror, and Glenn Phillips, who have struggled with consistency. This could cause problems for the team during the season. The top order, made up of Buttler, Gill, and Sudharsan, looks good, and players like Prasidh, Rabada, Sundar, Gerald Coetzee, and Siraj should trouble opponents with their bowling.
However, the team lacks a reliable middle-order batsman who can perform consistently. If the top order fails, the 2022 champions might face difficulties.

7. Kolkata Knight Riders – 6.5/10
Kolkata Knight Riders kept Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, Andre Russell, Harshit Rana, and Ramandeep Singh before the IPL 2025 mega-auction. This gave them a strong base since these players have been match-winners in the past. Their goal was to bring back as many players as possible from their 2024 title-winning team, but they ended up spending almost half their budget on just one player.
KKR spent a huge amount, INR 23.75 crore, to buy Venkatesh Iyer, making him the third-most expensive player in the auction. To afford him, they had to let go of some important players from last season. They also tried hard to get Allah Ghazanfar but lost him to Mumbai. Because they spent so much on Venkatesh, they missed out on other key players.
The team signed experienced players like Ajinkya Rahane and Manish Pandey, though their performance in modern T20 cricket is still in question. They made good signings with Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Anukul Roy, Vaibhav Arora, Quinton de Kock, Anrich Nortje, and Spencer Johnson, but they still lack a strong Indian batter, like Shreyas Iyer or Nitish Rana. Overall, the playing XI looks strong, but there are concerns about the backup players.

6. Chennai Super Kings – 7/10
Chennai Super Kings kept Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Matheesha Pathirana, Shivam Dube, and MS Dhoni before the IPL 2025 mega-auctions. They built a strong team and added players from the 2024 season, like Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway, which strengthens their batting. However, their middle order looks a bit weak.
The middle order has Dube, Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, Sam Curran, and Jamie Overton, along with Dhoni and Jadeja. This may not be enough to win the title. With Dhoni in the team, people expect him to bring out the best in these players, but the lineup looks a little weak.
They also bought Ravichandran Ashwin, which is a good move considering the pitch in Chennai. The bowling team includes Noor Ahmad, Khaleel Ahmed, Anshul Kamboj, Mukesh Choudhary, and Pathirana, which is decent. However, they could have done better in strengthening the middle order, which now relies heavily on Dube.

5. Lucknow Super Giants – 7.5/10
Lucknow Super Giants had an impressive auction, especially with their batting lineup. They managed to get Rishabh Pant, David Miller, Mitchell Marsh, and Aiden Markram in one auction, which was a great deal. They also already had Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni. They’ve likely got all the players they wanted, but since they focused a lot on the batting, the bowling department seems a bit weaker.
They kept Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, and Mohsin Khan, which was a good decision, and added players like Avesh Khan, Akash Deep, M Siddharth, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Shamar Joseph. While the core looks solid, they missed out on signing an overseas fast bowler, which would have completed the team. Someone like Josh Hazlewood, Kagiso Rabada, or Gerald Coetzee could have been a great addition.
Overall, Lucknow should be happy with their squad. In 2024, the co-owner was not pleased with the batters’ approach, but they’ve addressed that well this time. LSG now have a team that can compete for the title, but they still need strong support from the bowlers.

4. Delhi Capitals – 8/10
Delhi Capitals have built a strong team. They used the RTM card to bring back Jake Fraser-McGurk in the auction and bought KL Rahul for INR 14 crore. The two are likely to open the batting, with Harry Brook at number three, Tristan Stubbs at four, and Abishek Porel at five. This team looks solid, with good backups in Faf du Plessis and Sameer Rizvi.
Ashutosh Sharma did well for Punjab Kings last season, and he will be the finisher along with Axar Patel. Their bowling looks strong too, with Mitchell Starc and T Natarajan capable of causing trouble, while Kuldeep Yadav will handle spin. Mukesh Kumar or Mohit Sharma will complete the XI, making the bowling attack deadly.
However, they lack experience in the middle order. It’s possible that Faf du Plessis might replace Harry Brook, as Brook doesn’t have a great IPL record. If that happens, Faf could open with Jake, and Rahul would bat at number three. The management needs to address this. How the support staff works will be important for the team’s performance next season.
Player | Role | Price |

Jake Fraser-McGurk | Batter | 9 crore |
Harry Brook | Batter | 6.25 crore |
Faf du Plessis | Batter | 2 crore |

3. Punjab Kings – 8.5/10
The Punjab Kings have put together one of their best squads ever. They’ve signed top players like Shreyas Iyer, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, and Yuzvendra Chahal, and brought back Arshdeep Singh and Harpreet Brar. Their smart signings make them strong contenders for the title, though they still need a good Indian wicketkeeper, which is a concern.
PBKS might open with Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis from Australia. Shreyas Iyer is expected to bat at three, with Maxwell, Nehal Wadhera, and Stoinis at four, five, and six. The middle order is strong, and at number seven, Shashank Singh, who was key for them in the last IPL, will be ready.
Once they finalize their opening pair, their batting can challenge any team. The bowling looks even stronger. Marco Jansen was a great addition and can be a big asset with both bat and ball. Harpreet Brar and Chahal will handle the spin, while Arshdeep Singh will lead the pace attack and bowl in the death overs. Overall, Punjab looks well-balanced on paper.

Praveen Dubey | All-rounder | 30 lakh |
2. Mumbai Indians – 9/10
Mumbai Indians kept Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, and Tilak Varma before the big auction. It was a smart move by the team to keep all five, especially after the captaincy change drama between Rohit and Hardik last season. The team already had a strong core and added players like Trent Boult, Naman Dhir, Deepak Chahar, and Allah Ghazanfar.
They’ve built a well-rounded team and are ready to compete for the title. The trio of Bumrah, Boult, and Chahar is powerful, and Ghazanfar is a surprise talent who could do well in a team full of cricket stars. They also have solid backups like Mitchell Santner, Reece Topley, and Karn Sharma.
Their main concern might be the wicketkeeper position. Ryan Rickelton could open with Rohit Sharma, but he doesn’t have much IPL experience. If he struggles, Suryakumar might open, and Robin Minz could take a spot in the XI, but he also lacks experience.

1. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 9.5/10
Sunrisers Hyderabad have one of the best squads right now. They kept key players like Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Reddy. Additionally, they signed big players such as Ishan Kishan for INR 11.25 crore, Mohammed Shami for INR 10 crore, Harshal Patel for INR 8 crore, Rahul Chahar for INR 3.2 crore, and Adam Zampa for INR 2.4 crore, making their team full of stars.
They have strengthened every area. Under Cummins’ leadership, they’ve built a strong bowling lineup with himself, Shami, Harshal, Chahar, Jaydev Unadkat, and Simarjeet Singh. In batting, they added Atharva Taide, who could replace Abhishek Sharma if needed, and Abhinav Manohar, who can also be a good option as an Impact Sub.
Hyderabad reached the IPL 2024 final and this season, they have a great chance of winning the trophy again. With their well-balanced squad and strong backups, they seem ready. Their main concern will be keeping players injury-free.
