Double Century in T20 Cricket

Scoring a double century in T20 cricket is considered nearly impossible. With just 120 balls available for an entire team, the idea of one player reaching 200 runs seems out of reach. Yet, this remarkable achievement has been accomplished multiple times. The first to do so was Sagar Kulkarni, who reached the milestone in 2008.

While West Indies’ powerhouse Rahkeem Cornwall is the most recent global cricketer to score 200 runs in T20 cricket—achieving the feat in the Atlanta Open T20 League in 2022—the other three players on the list are all of Indian origin.

Despite the Atlanta Open not being recognized by the ICC, Cornwall’s performance showcased his raw power and stamina.

Cornwall’s brilliance was complemented by Steven Taylor and Sami Aslam, who both added fifties to help Atlanta Fire post a towering total of 327/1. Their opponents, Square Drive, could only manage 154/8 in their 20 overs, leading to a massive 172-run victory for Atlanta Fire.

Delhi-based cricketer Subodh Bharti made history in 2021 by becoming the first Indian to hit a double century in T20 cricket. Playing for Delhi XI, Bharti scored 205* from 79 balls during an inter-club match against Simba. His stellar innings propelled Delhi XI to a total of 256/1, and they bowled out Simba for 199, claiming victory in the 18th over.
