Pant suffered a finger injury in the Lord’s Test match due to which he was unable to do wicketkeeping.
Indian captain Shubman Gill said that Rishabh Pant’s finger injury in the third Test match against England is not very serious and the wicketkeeper-batsman will be able to play in the next match in Manchester. Shubman confirmed that Pant does not have any major injury and he will be fit to play the fourth Test match in Manchester, which will start 9 days later on July 23.
Pant had injured his left finger while trying to catch a delivery from Bumrah during England’s first innings at Lord’s. Pant kept wicket for the entire over but did not keep wicket thereafter, though he batted in both innings. Dhruv Jurel replaced him behind the stumps for the rest of the Test, which England won by 22 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
He will be fit for the next Test: Shubman Gill

“Rishabh has gone for a scan and there is no major injury,” Gill told reporters. “I think he will be fit by the next Test match.” Pant is the second-highest run-scorer in the series with 425 runs in six innings, including two centuries, second only to Gill’s 607 runs.
Indian captain Shubman Gill reflected on Pant’s run out after the match and said that it proved to be a crucial moment of the match. Shubman said, “At one point we felt that we could get a lead of 50-100 runs, which would have been a big thing on the fifth day, when batting becomes difficult. It was a big turning point. If we had got that lead, we could have pushed England on the backfoot.”
Since the match ended, there has been a lot of discussion on Bumrah’s ‘workload management’, especially on India’s attempt to keep him in the team. Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan even compared Bumrah’s workload to that of England captain Ben Stokes, who handled both the responsibilities well at Lord’s.
