Liverpool manager Arne Slot says his team has a “big responsibility” to win the club’s 20th league title. They only need one point against Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday to do it, after Arsenal drew with Crystal Palace.
Liverpool last won the Premier League in the 2019-20 season under Jurgen Klopp, but fans couldn’t be in the stadium due to Covid. They lifted the trophy in an empty Anfield after waiting 30 years for a top-flight title.
Slot said the team knows how important Sunday’s game is. He hopes the fans will give strong support, as they’ve done all season, to help them get the point they still need.
Tottenham haven’t won at Anfield since 2011 and have lost 18 league games this season. Their focus may be more on their Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt next Thursday.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have only lost twice in the league this season—just once at home—and they’ve picked up 41 points from 16 home games, the best record in the league.
Slot Speaks on the Challenge of Premier League Football

Slot, who won the league in the Netherlands with Feyenoord, is in his first season managing Liverpool after taking over from Klopp last summer.
Right now, his team is 12 points ahead of second-place Arsenal.
Some people say the Premier League hasn’t been as tough as in past years, but Slot disagrees. He says it’s still a very hard league to win.
“I’ve only been here for one season, so I can only speak about what I’ve seen,” he said. “But I think this year, the race for the top four or five has been really exciting. In the past, it was more obvious who would finish at the top.”
He added that every game is a challenge, and it’s never easy to win, especially by a big margin.
“It used to be easier to win by three or four goals a few years ago. Now, either the top teams like Liverpool, Man City, and Arsenal have dropped a bit, or the other teams have gotten stronger because they can spend as much—or even more—on players.”
