The atmosphere of the American Major League Soccer (MLS) has changed drastically after Argentine superstar Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami. The team’s fans, social media followers, and jersey and ticket sales have increased dramatically. Miami has already won several titles thanks to Messi. But their dreams do not stop there. David Beckham’s club is looking to get another World Cup-winning Argentine star as a target.
Albiceleste midfielder Rodrigo de Paul has received an offer from Inter Miami, according to Argentine media outlet TYC Sports. Although the star has a contract with Spanish club Atletico Madrid until June 2026, De Paul can soon respond to Miami’s offer from teammate Messi’s club.
According to TYC, Inter Miami and Atletico will only go into negotiations if the 31-year-old Argentine midfielder agrees to the offer. The MLS club is waiting for that, La Garzas has not yet started talks with the Spanish giants. De Paul joined Atletico in July 2021. So far, he has played 187 matches in the club’s jersey, scoring 14 goals.

Rodrigo De Paul previously played 44 matches for Spanish club Valencia before returning to his native Racing Club and Italy’s Udinese (184) to play for a new Spanish club. De Paul has been a regular member of the Argentina national team since Lionel Scaloni took over as coach. He himself has become a confidant of the World Cup-winning coach’s midfield performance. His former national teammate Javier Mascherano is currently the coach of Miami, so both Mascherano and Messi could have a role behind the offer from the club.
In addition to Messi, several other Argentine footballers play in Miami. Currently, the club’s main goalkeeper is Oscar Ustari, who caught the eye with his performance in the last Club World Cup. In addition to coach Mascherano-Messi, the Albiceleste’s Men in Pink squad includes Marcelo Wigandt, Tomás Avilés, Gonzalo Lujan, Baltasar Rodriguez, Tadeo Allende, Rocco Rios and Federico Redondo.
Incidentally, Messi-Suarez’s Miami got the chance to play in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup for the first time. They made history and reached the last 16. However, they got European champions PSG as their opponent there. However, in that match, the French giants defeated Miami 4-0 to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup.
