India played their first Test match at Adelaide in 1948.
The Adelaide Oval is one of Australia’s most famous cricket grounds. It is called “Oval” because of its oval shape, with long straight boundaries over 80 meters and shorter side boundaries.
The ground has a rich history and hosted the first-ever day-night Test match in 2015 between Australia and New Zealand. It has been a stronghold for Australia in day-night games.

1. 2 December 2003
India won their first Test match in Adelaide in 2003, thanks to Rahul Dravid and Ajit Agarkar’s amazing comeback efforts.
After Australia scored 556 runs in the first innings, Dravid’s brilliant double century helped India score 523 runs. In Australia’s second innings, Agarkar took six wickets, limiting them to 196 runs.
India needed 230 runs to win and, despite some challenges, successfully chased the target. Dravid stayed not out on 72 and was named Man of the Match.
2. 6 December 2008
India’s second Test win in Adelaide came 15 years after their first. It happened in the first match of the 2018/19 series.
Cheteshwar Pujara led the batting with scores of 123 and 71. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and R Ashwin shone in the bowling, taking 17 wickets together.
India won the match on the final day by just 31 runs.
