The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the retention rules ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Apart from this, rules have also been issued regarding the purse of the teams, Right to Match Card (RTM) and foreign players. The IPL Governing Council has taken a big decision, which has blown the senses of foreign players. Actually, the IPL has decided to ban foreign players missing from the season after being selected in the auction. They will be allowed to leave the league only in medical condition.

Not only this, the board has given a deadline to all IPL franchises regarding the retention of players and let us tell you, the board has asked the franchises to submit the list of retained players by October 31. This means that all the teams have got a deadline to retain the players. There are many experienced players in the upcoming season on whom the franchise will take important decisions.
According to the rules of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, a maximum of five capped and two uncapped players can be retained before the auction. Not only this, the player who makes his international debut before October 31 will be considered a capped player.
In its released statement, the IPL said, ‘It is up to the IPL franchise to choose the combination for retention and RTM. A maximum of 5 capped players and two uncapped players can be included in 6 retentions / RTMs.’
