Al Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour will not play in the rest of the 2025 Club World Cup after scans confirmed he has a broken collarbone, the Egyptian club said on Sunday.
Ashour got hurt during the team’s first match of the tournament against Inter Miami, which ended 0-0. He left the field in tears after injuring his shoulder.
Al Ahly’s doctor, Ahmed Gaballah, shared an update on the club’s X account: “Medical tests in a Miami hospital confirmed that Emam Ashour has a broken collarbone. He will miss the rest of the Club World Cup.”
Ashour, who had a major shoulder injury while playing for Egypt in 2024, fell early in the match and got treatment on the sidelines. He came back on the field for a short time and even missed a clear scoring chance. But soon after, the 27-year-old top scorer of the Egyptian Premier League couldn’t continue and asked to be taken off. He was substituted in the 14th minute by Ahmed Sayed (Zizo).
