Bulbul is going to be the interim president of BCB!

Bulbul

Faruk Ahmed’s position as BCB president has become shaky. Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, the interim government’s sports advisor, called Faruk on Wednesday night and informed him of the change. It is heard that Faruk has asked for a few days to resign.

Meanwhile, it is being heard that Bangladesh’s first Test centurion Aminul Islam Bulbul may take charge of the BCB. He has agreed to join the BCB after receiving an offer from the Sports Ministry. If everything goes well, he can first sit as a director in the NSC quota and later as the BCB president.

However, Aminul Islam has said that he does not intend to take charge of the BCB for a long period. He said, “10-15 days ago, I was contacted by the advisor (sports). They want me to be in Bangladesh cricket for some time in some role. I have agreed to it.”

There have been rumors of a change in the top post of the Bangladesh Cricket Board for the past few days. After the political situation in the country changed in August last year, Farooq Ahmed took over the presidency from Nazmul Hasan Papon. However, he has already faced severe criticism. Meanwhile, Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, the interim government’s sports advisor, called Farooq last night (Wednesday) and expressed his wishes.

Regarding the meeting with the sports advisor, the BCB president says, “The advisor did not ask me to resign. He just said that they do not want me to ‘continue’ anymore.” He also said that he is considering (resigning) in this situation. The BCB president said, “I do not want to say anything about this right now. Let’s see what happens.”

Aminul is currently serving as the ICC’s Asia region development manager. He is also the head of ICC’s hyperperformance program and training education. It is also known that he is in the country at the moment. Although he said that he was not present at yesterday’s meeting. He also said that he has not received an offer to become BCB president. He said, ‘I have not been asked to take over the responsibility of BCB president yet. I was not present at yesterday’s meeting with the sports advisor and the board president.

Bulbul said, ‘I do not want to stay in BCB for a long time. You may think me emotional, but when a country needs a soldier, that soldier does not look at his salary or his own interests. The work comes first for him. My thoughts are the same. I am ready to take on any responsibility of BCB. Let’s see what happens.’

Incidentally, since Aminul Islam Bulbul works for ICC, he was never involved in BCB elections. As a result, to bring him to BCB, the National Sports Council will have to do everything. Although Farooq is a councilor as a former captain of the national team, the National Sports Council nominated him as a director. Then the directors elected him as the president.

Although this is a government intervention, there is no scope to question it as it is approved in the BCB constitution and is also recognized by the ICC. However, a new discussion may be held on how many times the National Sports Council can change directors in one term. If Bulbul replaces Farooq, then it will be the third application.

First, Sajjadul Alam Bobby and Jalal Yunus were NSC directors, then Farooq and Fahim. Now, Bulbul replaces Farooq, this is the third reshuffle in this quota. However, there is nothing clear in the constitution about this. There is a BCB board meeting on Saturday, May 31. It is believed that a detailed insight into the president issue may be found there.
