Former Argentina footballer Luis Galvan, who was part of the team that won the 1978 World Cup, has passed away.
He had been sick for a few days and was battling pneumonia. He stayed in a hospital in Cordoba for several weeks and passed away there at the age of 77.
Luis began his professional football career in 1970. Over 17 years, he played for different clubs in Argentina. Later in his career, he also played briefly for a club in Bolivia.
He first played for Argentina’s national team in 1975 and took part in the Pan American Games that year. He was an important player for Argentina in the 1978 World Cup, playing in every match. He was also part of the 1982 World Cup squad but didn’t perform as well in that tournament. He stopped playing international football in 1983 and retired from professional football in 1987.
