8. Claire Taylor (2009)
Claire Taylor’s batting was key to England’s title win in 2009 at home. She was the second-highest scorer in the tournament, with 199 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 135 and was out only once.
Her best performances were 75 runs off 54 balls against Sri Lanka and 76* runs off 53 balls against Australia.
7. Nicola Browne (2010)
New Zealand medium pacer Nicola Browne had an excellent performance with the ball in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2010. She took nine wickets in five matches, sharing the most wickets with others. Her average was just 8.55, and her economy rate was 4.81.
Even though her team lost the final to Australia, Browne was named Player of the Tournament.
6. Charlotte Edwards (2012)
England captain Charlotte Edwards was the best batter in the 2012 Women’s T20 World Cup. She scored 172 runs in five innings, with an average of 43, making her the top scorer of the tournament.
Edwards led England to the final, where they lost to Australia. However, she was named Player of the Tournament.

5. Anya Shrubsole (2014)
Anya Shrubsole, a fast bowler, became the third England player to win the Player of the Tournament award at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. In the 2014 edition in Bangladesh, where the pitches favored spin bowling, Shrubsole took 13 wickets in six matches, with an average of 7.53 and an economy rate of 4.08.
However, Shrubsole and England couldn’t win the final, as they were defeated by Australia once again.
4. Stafanie Taylor (2016)
Stafanie Taylor is one of the best all-rounders in women’s cricket. She showed her skills during the 2016 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in India, where West Indies won the trophy for the first time by beating the favourites, Australia, in the final.
Many consider Taylor’s performance in 2016 to be the best by any woman cricketer in the tournament. She scored 246 runs, with an average of 41, and took eight wickets.
3. Alyssa Healy (2018)
Alyssa Healy, the wicket-keeper opener, had an amazing run in the 2018 Women’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies. She scored 225 runs, the highest in the tournament, with an average of 56.25 and two half-centuries. Healy played aggressively, shown by her strike rate of 144.23.
As Australia won the title, Healy was named Player of the Tournament.
2. Beth Mooney (2020)
In 2020, Australia became the second team to win the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on home soil, with opener Beth Mooney leading the batting.
While Healy struggled throughout the tournament, Mooney stepped up in the final, scoring 259 runs in six innings at an average of 64.75, including three half-centuries. Mooney was named Player of the Tournament for her outstanding performance.
1. Ashleigh Gardner (2023)
Ashleigh Gardner’s outstanding all-round performance in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa helped Australia win their second consecutive Women’s T20 World Cup title.
Gardner took 10 wickets, the second-most in the tournament, with an average of 12.50 and a best of 5/12. She also scored 110 runs while batting in the lower middle-order.
