Green was among the most coveted players in the 2023 auction, owing in part to his stunning T20 International performances in India just prior to the event, where he maintained a strike rate of over 200 while opening the batting.
Green’s IPL debut, however, was underwhelming. Playing for the Mumbai Indians in their opening match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Green managed only five runs from four balls before being dismissed by Reece Topley’s yorker. Yet, he quickly found his form in subsequent games. Over the season, Green accumulated 452 runs in 16 innings, including a century, and claimed six wickets.

His standout performance came in the 69th match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Chasing 201 at the Wankhede Stadium, Green played a spectacular unbeaten century off 47 balls, striking at a rate of over 212 with eight boundaries and as many sixes. Other noteworthy innings include consecutive fifties against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings, and a 26-ball 44 against Rajasthan Royals.
Despite his strong showing for Mumbai Indians, the franchise traded Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. RCB paid Rs 17.5 crore, matching Mumbai’s price from 2023.

Cameron Green’s International Career
Cameron Green’s rise began in Australia’s domestic circuit, where he made an early mark in grade cricket. At just 17, Green claimed a five-wicket haul for Western Australia against Tasmania, becoming the youngest player in Sheffield Shield history to achieve this milestone. He finished his debut season with 30 wickets.
Green’s breakthrough moment with the bat came in 2019, when he scored unbeaten knocks of 87 and 121 in a match against Queensland, leading to his promotion up the order.
His domestic success earned him a call-up to the Australian national team for the 2020 India tour. Green debuted in both ODIs and Test cricket that December, and in 2021, he made his T20 International debut. He was also drafted into Australia’s 2022 T20 World Cup squad as a replacement for the injured Josh Inglis. Green’s contributions were vital in Australia’s 2023 ODI World Cup triumph.
One of Green’s major milestones came in March 2021, when he scored his first double-century in first-class cricket with a 251-run knock for Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield. In August 2022, he took his first ODI five-wicket haul against Zimbabwe and was named player of the match for his unbeaten 89 in a tricky chase against New Zealand in Cairns.
Green’s T20 form also shone through in a series against India, where he hit two half-centuries.
In December 2022, Green secured his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket during the Boxing Day Test against South Africa at the MCG, reinforcing his status as a key player for Australia.
To date, Green has played 28 Test matches, scoring 1,377 runs and taking 35 wickets. In ODIs, he has amassed 552 runs at an average of 39.42 from 22 matches, along with 18 wickets.
