Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City started the Premier League season with a bang, shaking off last season’s disappointment. Wolverhampton Wanderers were completely ignored by them. Erling Haaland secured City’s big win with a brace. Two debutants, Tijjani Reynders and Ryan Cherki, also scored once on the scoresheet.
City returned from the field of their opponent Wolves with a big 4-0 win yesterday (Saturday) night. They had 59 percent possession of the ball, in addition, City could put 15 shots on target 4 times. All of which were successful. In contrast, Wolverhampton had 3 out of 9 shots on target.

City got the first chance in the match that started slowly, but Haaland could not put that opportunity on target with a header in the 19th minute. Then the hosts scored a goal, but it was ruled offside. The deadlock of the match was broken in the 34th minute. City took a double lead within three minutes. Haaland got the ball into the net after a wonderful flick from Reynders, Rico Luis. Reynders did not miss the next opportunity. The Dutch midfielder ran to the ball from his teammate and hit the net with a left-footed corner shot.
The Norwegian star scored his second and team’s third goal in the 61st minute. This time, Haaland succeeded with a low shot after receiving a pass from Reynders in the box. However, Guardiola took him off about ten minutes later. Playing his debut match, Cherki shared the ball with his teammate and got on the scoresheet in the 81st minute. The 21-year-old French footballer also succeeded with a low shot.
