There is a change in the post of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Current President Roger Binny will step down in July. After that, current BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla may take over as the acting President.
According to BCCI rules, no one above the age of 70 can be in charge of the board. As a result, the current president Roger Binny will have to leave the post when he turns 70. And he will turn 70 next July. So he will not be able to be in charge after July.
According to Indian media reports, discussions have already started in the BCCI on this. A BCCI official told an Indian media outlet, ‘Shukla can come in place of Binny in July. The board officials have already started discussing his name.’
“Shukla, who is currently the vice-president of the BCCI, is an experienced cricket administrator and a veteran politician who was previously the chairman of the IPL. He is the one being considered,” he added.
As per the rules, the senior-most vice-president of the board becomes the interim president till elections are held. Shukla, who took over as vice-president on December 24, 2020, has all the qualifications to fulfil this requirement.
