Known as the ‘Universe Boss,’ Gayle ended that innings with a massive 175 runs off 66 balls, featuring 17 sixes and 13 fours at a strike rate of over 266. His 175 remains the highest individual score in T20 cricket and the fastest century in any format.

Rishabh Pant now has the record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian. Playing for Delhi, he scored a century in just 32 balls during a Syed Mushtaq Ali match against Himachal Pradesh in 2018, with Gautam Gambhir as his opening partner.

Nepal’s Kushal Malla ranks third with his 34-ball century against Mongolia in 2023.

South Africa’s David Miller holds the fourth-fastest T20I century, scoring 100 off 35 balls against Bangladesh in 2017, despite being dropped on zero.

Two months later, India’s Rohit Sharma matched Miller’s record, scoring 100 in 35 balls against Sri Lanka in Indore after recently achieving his third double-century in ODIs.
