Only four cricketers have scored back-to-back centuries in T20I cricket.
(Cricketers Who Scored Back-to-Back Centuries in T20I Cricket)T20 cricket is known for its fast-paced action, where batsmen take more risks. While batting average is often used to judge batsmen, this short format of the game requires a high strike rate and more willingness to take risks.
With only 120 balls to face, players are forced to play aggressively, giving up consistency for quick runs. This fast-paced style makes scoring centuries very rare.
Over the years, many batsmen have played outstanding T20 innings at the international level. While some players have managed to score centuries in one game, doing it in back-to-back games has been a tough challenge. In this article, we will look at the list of cricketers who have scored consecutive centuries in T20I cricket.
4. Gustav McKeon (FRA)
The first player to reach this milestone was Gustav McKeon from France. McKeon scored two centuries in a row, first against Switzerland and then against Norway in 2022. He made his first century by scoring 109 runs from 61 balls against Switzerland.
In his second century against Norway, he scored 101 runs from just 53 balls at an even faster rate. McKeon was named Player of the Match against Norway for helping his team secure an important 11-run victory.
3. Rilee Rossouw (SA)
The second player to achieve this was South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw. Rossouw’s first of two back-to-back T20I centuries was against India in Indore, where he scored 100 runs off 48 balls, easily handling the Indian bowlers.
He then scored another impressive century, hitting 109 off 56 balls, in a group-stage match against Bangladesh at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. He was named Player of the Match for both performances.
2. Phil Salt (ENG)
English wicket-keeper Phil Salt made history in 2023 by scoring back-to-back T20I centuries against the West Indies. His first T20I century helped England chase down a huge target of 223 runs at St George’s, where he scored an unbeaten 109 runs off just 56 balls to lead England to victory.
Salt continued his impressive performance, hitting an even bigger score of 119 runs off 57 balls in the fourth T20I of the series. He was named Player of the Match for his outstanding achievement.
1.Sanju Samson (IND)
The latest player to join this elite list is Sanju Samson. Often criticized for not living up to his talent, Samson’s T20I career finally took off in 2024. He scored two back-to-back centuries against Bangladesh and South Africa.
Samson’s first T20I hundred was against Bangladesh in Hyderabad, where he smashed 111 runs off just 47 balls. He continued his brilliant form in the next T20I game against South Africa in Durban, scoring 107 runs off 50 balls and leading India to a big 61-run win.
